Introducing our relaunched Ostomy Support Chat Room

Ostomyland Online Ostomy Support Chat Room

Ever since our first year online there has been an ostomy support chat room on the Ostomyland website. It was very much our defining and stand out feature in 1998/1999 when online ostomy support was in it’s infancy. Ever since it has always been an important part of our support features.

We’re very pleased to be able to announce that we are relaunching our chat room today with a service from Rumbletalk which allows us to welcome chatters from both this website and our Facebook support group to come and chat together. The new chat client can be accessed easily from either computers or via mobile devices such as cell phones or tablets.

As always the chat room is open 24/7 for impromptu support chat or off topic fun. We also have a planned weekly meeting every week on Saturday evenings at 8PM UK time (GMT or GMT+1) which is currently approximately 3pm Eastern USA.

No registration is currently required as guests are allowed, however we plan to keep reviewing guess access in the future in case of abuse. We respectfully encourage all chatters to login with their Facebook or Twitter IDs.

This hugely popular British ostomy support charity magazine is dedicated to the support of Colostomates, their families and their carers. Have you ever wanted to create your own ostomy support group but didn’t know how to go about it? Or you are lost for ideas on what to do once it is created? You have?! That’s great because I have some news which will be of interest to you!

UK ostomy support charity Ostomy Lifestyle offers a very well received and highly praised course to introduce you to what makes a great ostomy support group and how you can go about creating one for your local area. Called The Nuts and Bolts of Running a Support Group it’s a free six hour/one day course to attend thanks to the generous funding by the national lottery and Ostomy Lifestyle offer the course around various locations in England. You do not have to be currently in the process of setting up a group, and even if you are running an established group you are eligible to attend the course where you might pick up an idea or two to make your group even better than it already is.

Places are still available for various dates this year so if you are interested why not take a peek at the course’s page on the Ostomy Lifestyle website which contains lots more information as well as a list of available dates for 2013 at - http://www.ostomylifestyle.org/content/training-courses.
