The following is a list of the shorter articles that we have on Ostomyland which cover a wide array of ostomy-related topics. This is a new feature to the website as of September 2012 and as such we’ll be continually adding articles to this section on a regular basis, so please do stop by and check to see if any new articles have been posted since your last visit.

1. Barrier Creams and Barrier Wipes
We take a look at the CliniMed LBF range of barrier creams and barrier wipes. We also take a detailed look at barrier creams and wipes in general – regardless of brand – and help to explain what the difference between the both types of products are and which ones you should be using for which circumstances.
2. Magazines for Ostomates
There are not many, if any, ostomy related magazines available over the counter at your local newsagents or paper stall, but that does not mean they do not exist. We take a look at which free and subscription based ostomy magazines are currently available at the time of writing in October 2012, with magazines and periodicals from the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand being featured.
3. Coloplast Assura Convexity Personal Review/Appraisal
Last month we posted an editorial about convexity products, and as I myself use convexity every day with Coloplast’s Assura convexity product. So, considering the recently editorial on the subject I thought I would follow this up with a post offering a personal appraisal of this convexity product, what it offers the convexity-seeking ostomate in general, as well as my own personal thoughts on why I like it so much. The Coloplast Assura range of products also features 1 piece and 2 piece variants with closed or drainable pouches offered too in either clear or opaque coverings. Whilst this is a convexity product review, the Assura also comes in the traditional “flat back” flange variety.
4. Understanding Flange Extenders (inc. Four Product Reviews).
Flange extenders are a relatively new product on the ostomy market having only been available for a couple of years now. We take a look at what they are, what they can do, how they can be used and applied as well as the benefits of hydrocolloid extenders over the medical-tape-like extenders. Finally we review four of our favourite extenders and list other ones currently available along with links to the relevant company pages.
5. Understanding Stoma Caps
Stoma caps are some of the smallest pouches available on the market with practically no capacity for your output, so why would you need them? We take a look at the stoma cap’s range of uses, who can use them as well as showing some of the current design differences that can be found between them. Finally there’s a list of popular stoma caps available in the UK and around the world.
6. Coloplast Brava Lubricating Deodorant Test
The Brava Lubricating Deodorant is the latest product from Coloplast which aims at eliminating leakage by one of the largest nuisances an ostomate may face – the dreaded pancaking. […] Many products from many different companies have come before all trying to eliminate pancaking, some have been marginally successful but from my experience they haven’t eliminated the issue. Will this lubricant product from Coloplast be any more successful and eliminate pancaking once and for all?
