Facebook groups has very much taken over from forums for when it comes to offering a message board style service, largely thanks to it’s huge active user base already connecting to the Facebook service every day as part of their online ritual.
The Ostomyland Ostomy Support Facebook Group is a “closed” group meaning anything members of the group posts is not shared on their normal public timeline or profile. It is a safe haven in which to seek peer-to-peer support from the glare of your family friends who maybe do not know you have a stoma yet.
At the time of writing our group is coming up to it’s 800th member, and it’s growing at a huge rate. The last year has seen our numbers double and I am confident that it will continue to grow day by day.
Our members are just like you. They are ostomates themselves, or the family, partner or carer of one. Between them they have years of experience coping with a stoma in every day life. Everything is confidential too.
Best of all, as you already probably have a Facebook account then you know how it all works already! If you can post on your timeline you can post in the group! However if you need help you can browse the Facebook groups help pages on Facebook.com. Or alternatively you can feel free to ask one of our group admins in group – Simon Strong, Rachel Clarkson or contact O’land webmaster (Jason) directly via email.
