Updated Page: Understanding Flange Extenders – Independence Products’ Acubond Strips (SB2)

In November last year we posted an article about flange extenders. They are a fairly new product category on the market having online appeared in the last few years. We’re now getting into the second generation of extenders and are seeing some products that are a huge improvement over the initial products.

The article included some of our favourite extenders where we introduced them and explained what we liked about them. Since writing that article we’ve had a chance to product test Independence Products (UK) Acubond Strips which we’re happy to say is now our absolute favourite flange extender out of all the ones we featured.

Accubond SB2 from Independence ProductsThe original article has been updated to include the Independence Products Acubond Strips including a full review of the product with it’s pros and cons and the reasons why we liked it so much. To give you a taster here are some of our favourite features:

  • It’s made of acrylic foam, and not hydrocolloid or tape. 
  • The adhesive is phenomenal. It sticks exactly when you need it to, for as long as you need it to, and it is a complete dream to remove with no medical adhesive remover required during our test.

On our Responder page you can learn all about the company, it’s service and what it can do for you. They are rightfully very proud of the service they offer; from the award winning customer service, to the unbias advice they can offer as they do not produce pouches or are tied to any other company. Lets also not forget their ultrasonic pouch cutting service, the 24-48 hour delivery with no signature required, and the whole host of freebies you get over the course of the year.

Ostomyland would like to welcome the newly launched Patient Choice to our Ostomy Products => Suppliers section where we have just uploaded their dedicated company page.

Patient Choice is a totally different type of ostomy products home delivery company for it’s UK clients. All the profits generated from the service are funnelled into charitable causes such as OstomyAid and local support groups. Also, 10% of all the profits are given to the Your Choice Fund where patients have a direct say on where the money should be spent.

Patient Choice is the brainchild of Ostomy Lifestyle’s founder Neil Basil. In only five years Ostomy Lifestyle has become a very well respected ostomy support charity for the UK which covers all ostomates and offers very similar services to the ostomy-specific charities. With Neil’s passion and dedication to the world of ostomy support behind Patient Choice we at Ostomyland are sure that it will become just as big a success as it’s big sister.
